Northern Lights Information
== Location ==
All games will be held at the Midwest Volleyball Warehouse (Northern Lights facility).
14050 Judicial Road
Burnsville MN 55337
== Schedule ==
Schedules for the first week will be posted by September 4 as long as we receive all seeding info by September 1.
Start times will be 7:30am 9:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm, 5:30pm, and 7:30pm on Sunday. Start times of each pool will rotate from week to week. We are putting together a master schedule to assure every pool has a chance to play at every time.
We are not able to accommodate any special requests for scheduling. When your team is scheduled to play is when they will be required to play. The league has simply gotten too big to make sure that a team is playing at 'X' time on this weekend, or that these two teams either do or don't play at the same time.
1) Schedules will be posted online. (VBSchedule.com) When available, they will be sent to your coaches to distribute.
2) Schedules will be posted by the Tuesday prior to the next weekend of competition
3) Results will be available online immediately after matches
== Player Drop Off and Pickup ==
Parents will be allowed to drop off before the first match, however, there is absolutely NO PICKUP LINE at the front door. This means no stopping or waiting to pick up players after their wave is complete. You will be asked to move your vehicle.
== Admission ==
There is a $5.00 admission fee for ALL spectators ages 6 and older. Children 5 and under are free. The size and popularity of the league has caused us to implement an admission fee which helps defer the cost of building supervision and cleaning.
== Streaming / Cameras ==
Livestreaming (pay-per-view) will be offered as an alternative to attending in person. As a result, we do not allow coaches, parents, or other spectators to livestream the games. If someone is found to be livestreaming, you will be asked to stop. If found again, you will be asked to leave the building.
To get started livestreaming, please visit our website www.northernlightsjuniors.org and click "Streaming" on the main menu.
== Girls Only ==
Please note that this is a girls only league.
== Food ==
Because all teams will be playing two back-to-back matches, there is no need to bring significant amounts of food into the building as there will be no down time for teams to eat. We ask that teams refrain from bringing large quantities of food into the building and clean the area so that the parents from future waves of play have clean areas to sit in.
== Matches ==
Each team will play two matches in succession. The teams will be placed into four team brackets played on two adjacent courts.
Teams will play three games automatically for each match. First two games to 25 points, third game to 15. If you win your first match, you will play the winner of the adjacent court, if you lose, you will play the loser of the adjacent court.
== Team Movement ==
Each week we will move at least two teams from each four team bracket.
Each year we get questions in our office about why a team has played twice in the same timeslot. Often it is because the team moved up or down into another bracket. The SAME bracket is never scheduled for the same timeslot, but if your team moves up or down, they may have moved into an adjacent bracket that now plays during that time the next playday.
== Officials ==
All matches will be officiated by Northern Lights players. They will handle all responsibilities of the first official.
== Parent Scorekeepers ==
All teams are responsible for asking one team parent to keep score each match. Your team parents should be made aware that part of their responsibility is to keep score at least 1-2 times over the course of the league. Matches will not begin until a parent from each team is at the score table. Please be sure your parents understand this expectation upfront. We often have delayed starts to matches because coaches have to track down someone willing to keep score.
One parent will work the electronic scoreboard. One parent will keep score on a very simple scoresheet.
== Rosters / Uniforms / Substitutions ==
There are no official rosters or uniform requirements for this league.
There are no roster limits on players/coaches at this time.
Additional notes:
1) There are no substitution rules
2) Players may sub in and out as often as needed
3) How you sub your players is of no concern, as long as it is fair
4) Teams must rotate their players through positions
For example, you cannot have your best server serving every other rotation to ensure your team will win. Players can only serve once per rotation. Your best attacker cannot stay in the front row for the entire game, they must rotate.
Standard volleyball rules are used; however, this is a fun/training league and with no uniform numbers and things like Libero tracking and substitutions will not be tracked. It is asked that each team use the honor system when playing.
Thank you -
